I smile as I see Declan’s text. I really enjoyed being with him last night. He was so sweet and just listened as I told him what I could about the kidnapping—and he didn’t push. I think that’s why I felt like I could open up to him. He was so patient when I sat there like an idiot trying to decide what to do. But in the end, I feel better that I was able to tell him. I hope it will help him to understand me if we decide to go forward with this relationship. Because I really do want to see where this leads. He makes me feel safe. Even with my insecurities, maybe he could love me for me.

He trusted me enough to tell me about his parents. I could see how much he loves them and misses them. I wish I could’ve met them. I bet wherever they are, they’re so proud of him.
